Book Snarf Beginnings

Greetings! My name is Lindsey Joy Smith.

For as long as I can remember, I have loved both reading and eating. As a little girl, I would beg my mother to make dishes mentioned in books; think Green Eggs and Ham and Turkish Delight from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. As a tween, I vividly recall ordering spaghetti at an Italian restaurant and then promptly reading Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs the moment I got home. The written word made me hungry for food, and tasty treats left me craving fiction, non-fiction, adventure, mystery, history, romance, poetry, biography, and cookbooks, of course.

My fondness for food and books started an incredible, edible, vicious cycle. Reading or eating? Books or Brownies? This internal battle has raged for decades, and I find that I am no closer to picking a team. SO I’m choosing both. You can too. We are not Book Worms who love food or Foodies who love to read. We are Book Snarfs. We have library cards and Audible accounts, favorite restaurants, grocery budgets, and we know our way around a KitchenAid. Let's get crackin’ and eat it and read it together.
